"This traditional Irish dish is the centerpiece for many a St. Patrick's Day table. Corned beef takes a long, lovely simmer with potatoes, carrots and cabbage for a hearty and satisfying dish."

This was delicious, although I did take some advice from other reviewers. I added a can of beer, some garlic and onion to the water before boiling. Than about 45 mins before it was done I took the meat out and put it in the oven with a brown sugar glaze on it (1/3 cup brown sugar, 2 tbs melted butter, splash of ketchup) It only took about 30 mins on 350. The veggies stayed in the pot and cooked. After everything was all done I used a little bit of the juice to make a gravy. It all came out really good. I served it with mashed ptts and gravy, and a good crusty roll. Thanks for the recipe and the reviews. Husband loved it!!

Did as another person suggested and removed it from the pot and finished it in the oven with a sauce for 30 min. This was fantastic. The sauce really is a great finish. Fussy eater approved!

We aren't giant corned beef fans, but I did try this recipe for St. Patrick's Day being as we're very Irish. The corned beef aside, the vegetable were delicious! We loved them. They didn't last long at all. I think I'd buy the corned beef again just to season the veggies.

So freaking good!!! I've made it twice now and it was awesome each time! I boiled it in all the chicken broth I had then a little water. I added some butter and 4 or 5 cloves of minced garlic while it simmered. I added a yellow onion with the vegetables (because I love onions) It's tender, flavorful, smells amazing, and is great left over. I'll be making this one again and again

I made this recipe pretty much like Ms Tabul had it and it was great. The people that review and change every living thing about the recipe I feel should post their own recipes. Changing a small thing here and there is fine but these people rewrite the recipes. Thanks Laria it was great

Definitely needs to be cooked a lot longer, everything. Especially the cabbage. Wasn't a huge fan of this dish.

I just used this recipe, and followed it to the tee...It was the BEST Corned Beef I have ever had. No customizing of the recipe is necessary! It is...in one word...DIVINE!

This must be the best Irish meal ever. I managed to make this with a 5 quart Crockpot and a stove pot. I recommend a 7 quart Crockpot, as I prefer more potatoes and carrots than normal. You may still need to move the juices to a stove pot to boil the cabbage as it needs room so it stays in the quarters you cut it into rather than just a pile of cabbage leaves. I bought a seasoned packaged corned beef brisket and followed this recipe. I only cook what cabbage I need for each meal as cooked cabbage is not a good leftover. This one has turned into a staple for me.
